IIT Spring 2009 Studio Project - Social Housing in Milwaukee, WI

Student Name: Alexander Koenadi Professors: Tom Brock, John DeSalvo, Kibler This studio focuses on the study and application of precast concrete building technologies, including both structural and architectural precast materials. Because design with precast is always a collaborative process that involves the close cooperation of design professionals, manufacturers, contractors and trades people, we will include the involvement of members of the Precast Concrete Institute, especially engineers and producers, to take part in the evaluation of work done in these studios. These was be conducted as a series of formal reviews and will be regularly scheduled throughout the semester and paced with the project development. Students within this studio are also encouraged to pursue advance topics within the industry through a focused research project that will emphasize one aspect of their building design. Topics could include the application of Building Information Modeling software, direct‐to‐manufacture production including CNC technologies or the logistics and economics of just‐in‐time delivery of precast elements.
