Total Precast Solutions - New School Construction - A Designer's Perspective

PCI Central Region put on a series of Precast Concrete seminars over a 5 week period in Indianapolis (4.21.09), Cincinnati (4.22.09), Detroit (4.29.09) and Pittsburgh (5.6.09). As part of these seminars, there was a session on Precast for Educational facilities, which Roberts Academy was used as a case study as a fully Precast solution. Randal Merrill, Vice President of Architecture of MSP, was asked to be a guest speaker at the events in Cincinnati, Detroit and Pittsburgh. Randal teamed with John Ciulis, PE, President of National Precast (Detroit) in making these presentations. Randal was able to share his experiences in designing two schools (Robert Academy and Academy of World Languages) for CPS utilizing a Total Precast product as a creative design solution. PCI recorded these sessions and added an in-depth interview with Randal and prepared a video that they now use in marketing and educating owners and architects about the potential advantages of using Precast concrete systems as a viable design options for a variety of building types.
